How many people will attend the reunion?
In most cases at least half of your class will probably have no interest in
attending the reunion. It’s not that they hated high school or anyone in
particular, it’s just that people are busier than ever, working longer hours,
involved with family commitments and keeping up with their every day
lives that the reunion just doesn’t fit into the normal scheme of things. It
isn’t on the top of their priority list. In most cases you can expect
approximately 20-30% of your class to attend – more with Committee
and Alumni involvement. It is a proven fact that if each of the estimated
20-30% of Alumni that will attend reached out to one of their fellow
classmates attendance would more than double. Remember, no one can
plan your reunion better than YOU and no one can get their fellow alumni
stoked about coming better than you that’s why your involvement is so
crucial to the success of your reunion!
How far in advance should we start planning our
reunion?
In general the easiest answer is the earlier the better – especially if you
have a large class. Typically a large class will start initial planning
anywhere from 12 to 24 months in advance of their desired date. This
provides ample time to set up your file, website, alumni database, search
and locate alumni, secure a venue and prepare and send announcements,
invitations and reminders. It also gives your classmates ample time to
make travel arrangements, request vacation time and cover any last
minute details thereby maximizing attendance at your reunion.
Don’t fret if your reunion date is a lot closer than the suggested minimum
of 12 months notice! A Touch of Class Reunions can perform all of the
same services with less time than recommended due to our staff size and
vast resources however we recommend that you get started as early as
possible to get your desired date and venue – they book quickly!
